Canadian prime minister Mark Carney says he "welcomes" President von der Leyen’s invitation to the EU as an associate member.
Speaking to the European Parliament, Mr Carney said "Economic integration is now being weaponised, tariffs being used to exert pressure," a reference to US president Donald Trump’s initiation of a trade war between the two neighbours.
