Car crash leaves 5 people hospitalised

A multi-vehicle pile-up involving several police cars has left five people with serious injuries in Tyneside.

The crash occurred around 2:30am near Denton, Newcastle, flipping one car onto its side and leaving debris scattered across the road.

Northumberland Police have confirmed that an investigation is underway.
