Chickenpox vaccine to be rolled out on NHS for first time

A chickenpox vaccine for all young children is being rolled out on the NHS for the first time.

It will be given along with the MMR jab, which protects against measles, mumps and rubella.

The NHS says the jab will keep more kids in school, and their parents won’t have to take time off work to look after them – whiles its also expected to save the NHS £15 million a year.

Health Secretary Wes Streeting has welcomed the rollout, saying: "It’s going to make a real difference."
