Child poverty strategy: What does the government announcement mean for families? | ITV News

The government’s long-awaited child poverty strategy has finally been published, with pledges to tackle issues including housing, education, children’s health and wellbeing.

The plan comes amid a record high of 4.45 million children living in poverty in the UK and a week after the scrapping of the two-child benefit cap in the budget.

Key measures include more accessible childcare for parents on universal credit, investment in safe homes for families facing homelessness and stopping children from being forced to grow up in B&Bs and unsuitable accommodation.
