More than 130 people have died and 1,000 others are injured after a 6.2-magnitude quake struck near the border of Gansu and Qinghai provinces on Monday night.

Residents, who were left sorting through the rubble of their homes in temperatures of -16C, face food and water shortages.
The earthquake, which was followed by several strong aftershocks, destroyed or damaged more than 150,000 homes, according to state media. It also caused mud and landslides, and damaged powerlines and other local infrastructure.
