In 1967, 75-year-old Louisa Dunne was raped and strangled to death in her home in Bristol. Despite one of the largest police operations the city had ever seen, the crime remained unsolved. And after 58 years, Louisa’s family was left believing the questions over her death would never be answered.

But a decision by cold case detectives to review the case triggered a remarkable forensic breakthrough – and led officers to a 92-year-old suspect: Ryland Headley.

He’d outlived almost all who’d tried to track him down more than half a
century ago.

This is the story of how decades of deception unraveled in the face of modern DNA, forensic science and dogged detective work – and how one of Britain’s oldest cold case killers was finally caught.
