Constant GCSE resits is ‘crushing’ young people’s confidence, Education Secretary says #gcse

Lucy Powell has pledged to overhaul the system of GCSE resits for teenagers who do not pass English and maths at the first attempt.

Under the proposed changes, those who receive a grade 2 or below would be encouraged to take alternative qualifications where they can demonstrate their English and maths skills to prospective employers.

Those who pass these qualifications, known as Level 1s, would then be able to resit their GCSEs. #gcse #education #school #politics
