A comet which has divided scientific opinion is reaching its closest point to Earth today.
One Harvard University astrophysicist has even claimed that 3i Atlas could be carrying an extraterrestrial spacecraft.
Don’t expect an earth landing – the comet which was first spotted in July, will be 170 million miles away and is travelling at well over 100 thousand miles per hour.
Professor Avi Loeb said it is highly likely that it is a natural object but scientists should consider all eventualities.
