Hundreds of earthquakes have hit the region causing huge damage to Icelandic towns – which could signal a new era of volcanic activity.
Residents of Grindavik, Iceland were evacuated after fears that an eruption could be imminent.
In 2010 eruptions at the E3 icecap in caused a huge ash cloud, grounding flights and causing chaos globally for air travel
But experts are highly doubtful it will happen again
