Michael Gove has delivered an apology to Covid victims and their families for ‘mistakes made by government’ when giving evidence at the UK’s Covid-19 inquiry.
Gove, who served as minister of the cabinet office between February 2020, and September 2021 breaks away from the line of questioning to apologise for the ‘loss as a result of the mistakes that were made by government in response to the pandemic’.
Gove added he would take personal responsibility for his role, but he also says he and his colleagues were trying to take the best decisions ‘in circumstances where every decision was difficult and every course was bad’
