David Cameron has admitted his government made a mistake in focusing on influenza during contingency planning, in the years before the coronavirus pandemic.
Speaking at the the COVID inquiry into the government’s handling of the pandemic, the former Prime Minister denied that the policy of austerity had a detrimental impact on the UK’s response or that he failed to bring in a requirement for hospitals to have a minimum stock of emergency PPE.
