COVID Inquiry: 'I do not accept that health spending was inadequate' - David Cameron

The COVID inquiry into the government’s handling of the pandemic has scrutinised David Cameron’s austerity-era decisions to reduce public debt.

Mr Cameron refused to accept Kate Blackwell KC’s question that the health budget over the time of his government was inadequate.

The former Prime Minister added his austerity policies were needed to lower public debt by stressing that: "What’s needed to prepare for a pandemic" is to "have overall economic capacity."
