
Dame Darcey Bussell has criticised comments actor Timothée Chalamet has made about ‘no one’ caring about opera or ballet.
The Oscar-nominated actor was discussing keeping art forms alive with Matthew McConaughey for US outlet Variety.
Chalamet recognised that he’d said something controversial in the interview and joked about ‘taking shots for no reason’ but the remarks have drawn backlash from the performing arts world.
Dame Darcey Bussell was discussing the UK’s Let’s Dance initiative to promote the benefits of dance, while at the prestigious Royal Ballet School in London.
