Dame Sarah Mullally becomes Archbishop of Canterbury in formal ceremony at St Paul's Cathedral

Watch live as Dame Sarah Mullally, the 106th Archbishop of Canterbury and the first woman to ever hold that position, will be formally elected into the role today in a legal ceremony at St Paul’s Cathedral.

Former Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby officially stepped down in January last year after it emerged that he did not take adequate action when reports of prolific child abuse in the Church were brought to his attention.

Archbishop-elect Mullally’s appointment was confirmed by King Charles in October. The ceremony will be a combination of legal and spiritual elements
