Some Gaza city residents have returned home after air raids killed more than 70 Palestinians in the south of Gaza where Israel had ordered civilians to seek refuge ahead of a ground offensive.
The bombardment of the Gaza Strip has killed more than 2,800 Palestinians, a quarter of them children, and driven around half of the 2.3 million population from their homes. The air raids were launched in retaliation for an attack by Hamas fighters on 7 October that killed 1,300 people
