The chancellor is expected to announce funding of £2.2bn for the Ministry of Defence, and the defence secretary has told Sky News that this is new funding.
John Healey said it will be part of "a total of more than £5bn" this year "as a first bold step on the path to increasing defence spending to 2.5% of GDP".
