The defence secretary has been asked by Sky News about reports that hundreds of migrants crossed the English Channel yesterday small boats.
Speaking to Sky’s Trevor Phillips, John Healey described the scenes as "pretty shocking", adding that "the truth is Britain has lost control of its borders over the last five years".
Mr Healey blamed the situation in part on the previous government, claiming that the Tories left "an asylum system in chaos" and "record levels of immigration".
