A committee of MPs says Britain’s credibility with allies has been damaged by delays in announcing its defence investment plan, which is now not expected until July.
The government says it’s committed to defence spending reaching 3% of national income.
The scathing report by The Public Accounts Committee says the delay is hindering efforts to modernise the armed forces and provide a military deterrent.
Meanwhile in Downing Street, the Prime Minister is hosting Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy together with the French President and German Chancellor to discuss the conflict.
The meeting comes after Ukrainian reports of Russian drone strikes killing three people and hitting a nuclear fuel storage facility near the Chornobyl power plant.
Kyiv hit Russia’s second-largest city St Petersburg with a barrage of long-range drones.
Russia’s President Putin rejected Zelenskyy’s request for face-to-face talks, leaving no end in sight for the war.
