A doctor in Gaza who has spent her entire career caring for children has lost almost all of her own family in a single Israeli airstrike.
Paediatrician Alla Najjar was on duty at the Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis at the time, and ran home to find her house in flames.
Her husband is severely injured, and her only surviving child, an 11-year-old boy, was treated by her colleagues at the hospital. The Israeli military says it has hit more than 100 targets in the past 24 hours, in its efforts to destroy Hamas. But about the Najjar family tragedy, it would only say the ‘claim’ is ‘under review’.
