The process for dealing with doctors accused of sexual misconduct needs urgent reform, according to the British Medical Journal.

It says sanctions are inconsistent and leave victims traumatised. This is backed up by research published by the Royal College of Surgeons, which found that almost a quarter of doctors found guilty were allowed to keep practicing, with one doctor accused of rape getting just a one-year suspension.
