Watch live from the White House as US President Donald Trump and New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani meet at the White House in Washington.
The meeting sets up an in-person clash between the political opposites who for months have antagonised each other.
Speaking on Thursday, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said the invitation “speaks volumes” about Trump.
“I think it’s very telling, but I also think it speaks to the fact that President Trump is willing to meet with anyone, and talk to anyone, and to try to do what’s right on behalf of the American people,” Leavitt said.
