Donald Trump has threatened to sue the BBC for $1bn unless the corporation apologises and compensates the US president for a Panorama documentary that misleadingly edited his 6 January Capitol Hill speech.
Trump’s lawyers also demanded the BBC withdraw the film.
BBC News director-general Tim Davie, and BBC News CEO Deborah Turness both resigned on Sunday after it emerged Panorama had spliced together elements of the Trump speech.
Trump’s lawyers gave the BBC until 14 November to comply with the request.
