Dozens detained after protests in Albania's capital Tirana

Police fired water cannons at protesters in Albania’s capital Tirana on October 14 as clashes continued for another day.

Demonstrators smashed store fronts, set fires and caused damage to several government buildings during running battles with riot police who used tear gas to try and hold back the crowds.

The protests are part of a broader anti-government campaign opposed to a development project linked to US President Donald Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner.

The so-called flamingo anti-government movement is also calling for the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama over corruption allegations.
