At least one person has been killed and several others injured after a car was driven into a crowd in the German city of Mannheim, police said.
The public has been told to stay away from the downtown area of the city, and a major police operation is underway.
Police spokesperson Stefan Wilhelm said that a driver drove into a group of people in Paradeplatz, a pedestrianised street in Mannheim, killing one person.
