Education secretary 'determined' to tackle geographic inequality in university applications

The education secretary says she wants to break down the barriers for people applying for further education as A-Level results are collected around the country.

Bridget Phillipson MP says that people from London and the South East are far more likely to apply for university.

Ms Phillipson added: "I’m absolutely determined to turn that around, because I don’t believe where you’re from should determine what you can go on to achieve, and it certainly shouldn’t limit your choices and options."
