Chair of the Foreign Affairs Select Committee, Dame Emily Thornberry, spoke to Sky’s Wilfred Frost following the Prime Minister’s announcement the UK will recognise Palestinian statehood if Israel fails to meet certain conditions with the war in Gaza.
She said the decision is ‘great news’ and it is ‘the right thing to do.’
Although Shadow Foreign Secretary, Dame Priti Patel said now ‘is not the right time’ to recognise a Palestinian state, Thornberry said it is the right time to do so, as Israel ‘is run by a far-right government.’
