Energy bills set to rise after Christmas

Gas and electricity bills will become more expensive in January after the energy regulator Ofgem announced an increase in its latest price cap decision.

It will rise to £1,738 from the current level of £1,717 – an increase of 1.2%.

Every three months, energy regulator Ofgem revises the cap based on wholesale costs.
