Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Steve Reed gives a speech as the UK government introduces the Water (Special Measures) Bill to tackle water companies polluting rivers, lakes and seas.
The proposed legislation will give regulators increased enforcement powers, including possible jail sentences for water executives who fail to cooperate or obstruct investigations, as well as prohibiting bonuses for those failing to meet environmental standards.
