Ghislaine Maxwell refused to answer questions from US lawmakers about her links to Jeffrey Epstein in a rare appearance outside her prison cell.

Maxwell is serving 20 years in prison on sex trafficking charges and was called on to testify before a congressional committee.
Lawmakers questioned Maxwell about her relationship with Jeffrey Epstein and her role in his network. Maxwell declined to answer those questions, repeatedly invoking her Fifth Amendment right.
During the appearance, she did speak to appeal for a reduction in her sentence. Survivors of Epstein and Maxwell were closely following the hearing.
