Equalities minister tells MPs the UK government will protect single-sex spaces

After the supreme court ruling on the legal definition of womanhood last week, the equalities minister, Bridget Phillipson, has vowed the Labour government will protect single-sex spaces. She added that the government would also protect ‘the rights of all people with protected characteristics now and always’. In response, the Conservative leader, Kemi Badenoch, said that Labour claims to have defended those spaces were a ‘shameless work of fiction’
