Australian woman Erin Patterson is being sentenced after a jury found her guilty of three counts of murder and one count of attempted murder by serving beef wellingtons laced with deadly death cap mushrooms. Patterson had hosted a lunch at her home in Leongatha, Victoria on 29 July 2023, which was attended by her estranged husband’s parents, Don and Gail Patterson, and his aunt and uncle, Heather and Ian Wilkinson. All four guests were diagnosed with amanita mushroom poisoning, caused by consuming poisonous death cap mushrooms. Gail, Heather and Don died, while Ian Wilkinson survived after spending weeks in hospital.
