The TPLF – the Tigray People’s Liberation Front – have been running the region, where fighting has erupted in recent weeks.
In Tigray’s capital Mekelle, the TPLF took armed control of the city and airport 2 weeks ago.
Now, federal government-allied forces have reclaimed control the city.
Analysts fear a wider regional conflict is still possible.
