The images that have emerged from Gaza are, it is being claimed, evidence of maltreatment, torture and even execution of Palestinian prisoners by the Israeli military.
Israel’s military categorically denies what it calls "unsubstantiated claims," saying it operated "strictly in accordance with international law."
It says all the bodies returned so far are of combatants within Gaza, and it specifically denies tying any bodies prior to their release.
Foreign media is not allowed into Gaza to verify claims made by the Hamas-run health authority.
