Ex-sergeant major jailed for sexually assaulting Jaysley Beck months before her death | ITV News

A former army officer has been sentenced to six months in prison at the Court Martial Centre in Bulford after he admitted to sexually assaulting a teenage soldier who later took her own life.

Jaysley Beck, 19,  was found dead in her barracks at Larkhill Camp in December 2021. An inquest ruled that "on the balance of probabilities" she had been sexually assaulted, and the Army’s failure to take action contributed to her death.
The sentencing of Warrant Officer Michael Webber comes after he pleaded guilty to assaulting the Royal Artillery Gunner in September 2025.

Speaking to ITV News, Gunner Beck’s mother told ITV News: "I still don’t feel justice has been served. It’s impacted us, we have to live with this sentence now for the rest of our lives".
