U.S. President Donald Trump signalled to Ukraine’s president on Friday that he was leaning against selling him the long-range Tomahawk missile system Ukraine has said it desperately needs. Trump met President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the White House on Friday, his fourth visit since Trump returned to office.
The meeting comes a day after the US leader held a call with Russian President Vladimir Putin. At the start of the talks, Zelenskyy congratulated Trump over landing last week’s ceasefire and hostage deal in Gaza, and said Trump now has "momentum" to stop the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Speaking to reporters after the meeting, President Zelenskyy said he and Trump had decided not to make any public statements about their conversation around the missiles.
