Two counter-protesters are in custody after an improvised explosive was thrown outside New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s residence. A terror investigation is underway.

It happened on Saturday during clashes at an anti-Islam rally organised by far-right activist Jake Lang.
A larger group of counter-protesters showed up and the device was thrown from that group.
Then on Sunday police investigated another suspicious device in a car in the same area of
Manhattan’s Upper East side.
Mamdani has condemned Saturday’s incident saying ‘violence at a protest is never acceptable.’
