Famine declared in Gaza City for first time by UN-backed group

More than half a million people across Gaza are now facing starvation, destitution and death, according to UN-backed food security experts.

They’ve warned the situation will only get worse in the coming weeks.

Israel’s Prime Minister dismissed the report as an "outright lie" – while the UN is demanding immediate and unrestricted humanitarian access to Gaza – to stop the "catastrophic conditions" spreading throughout the territory.
