Far right leader Marine Le Pen banned from running for French presidency

The far-right French firebrand who was seen as a frontrunner for the 2027 presidential election has been banned from standing for public office for five years.

Marine Le Pen, the leader of the National Rally party, was found guilty of embezzling EU funds and faces possible prison time, subject to her appeal.
