In Romania, nationalist George Simion has won the first round of a presidential election rerun. The leader of the Alliance for the Unity of Romanians party took 40 percent of the vote, far outstripping his opponents, though falling short of an absoloute majority. It comes after the country’s Constitutional Court threw out the result of last November’s election – won by pro-Russian candidate Calin George-scu – after allegations of Russian interference.
