The number of farm animals severely injured or killed in dog attacks in the South East is up by 137%, according to figures released by NFU Mutual.
The figure from 2025 compares to the number of attacks in 2024. According to the rural insurance company, the South East was the second worst-hit region for dog attacks, costing an estimated £330,000.
This is just behind the Midlands, with the number of incidents there costing an estimated £438,000.
With lambing season underway, NFU Mutual is calling for dog owners to be wary of the danger their pets pose on livestock when let off leads in the countryside.
