FDA studying safety of abortion drug mifepristone, spurring concerns about limits on access

Pregnant people should not be afraid to take Tylenol, experts say, rebuking unproven claims made by the Trump administration that it can cause autism.

The FDA is reviewing evidence about the safety and efficacy of mifepristone, one of the drugs used in medication abortion, to investigate how it can be safely dispensed, according to a letter by HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. and FDA Commissioner Dr. Marty Makary. Mifepristone was approved by the FDA in 2000.
