Renewed fighting between rebels and government forces in Ethiopia’s Tigray region is escalating fears of a return to full-scale conflict.

Tigray is run by the Tigray People’s Liberation Front – or the TPLF – who fought a two year war with the federal government that ended in 2022 with around 600,000 people killed.
They say they’ve been under attack from the federal government and have now taken control of local airports and launched offensives in neighbouring regions.
