Felled ancient oak tree could have “lived for a few hundred years”

An ancient oak tree that was felled by the owners of a Toby Carvery could have lived "for another few hundred years", the local council has said.

Pub chain Mitchells & Butlers said on Tuesday it was responsible for chopping down the 500-year-old tree earlier this month "to protect our employees and guests as well as the wider general public".
