During the Euros the racism sent to Lioness Jess Carter ignited calls for action. The summer victory should have been a happy memory, but it was overshadowed by horrific online abuse directed at some of the England players.

Ofcom is now urging tech firms to do more to protect women and girls online.

The watchdog has set out guidelines for social media sites such as Instagram or X, to help protect women in sport, politics and other public arenas, who they say are facing "significant and widespread abuse online every day".
