New figures show that more than 41,000 migrants reached the UK in 2025 after crossing the Channel in small boats – the second-highest number to make the journey on record.
The overall number of arrivals last year ended up 9% below the all-time high of 45,774 in 2022.
It’s drawn criticism from the Conservatives and Reform UK, with Nigel Farage calling the government’s attempt to tackle the issue a "farce".
