Heads of state and royalty have started to arrive in Rome for the funeral of Pope Francis in the Vatican’s St. Peter’s Square.
US President Donald Trump was among the leaders to arrive on Friday evening as the Pope’s coffin was sealed shut during a ceremony in preparation for the funeral on Saturday.
Earlier on Friday, the public viewing of Pope Francis’ body in St. Peter’s Basilica ended.
The Vatican said 250,000 mourners had filed past the the pontiff’s body over the last three days to pay their final respects to Pope Francis, who died on Monday after suffering a stroke at the age of 88.
