Martin Meul, a reporter for Swiss German-language daily newspaper Blick, spoke to us from the police cordon in Crans-Montana, where dozens of people are presumed to have died in a bar fire.
He described it as one of Switzerland’s ‘worst tragedies’ in its more recent history.
He said the venue was popular with young people, so was likely to be busy on New Year’s Eve.
