Late on Saturday, Mindanao in the southern Philippines experienced a magnitude 7.5 earthquake. The earthquake shook parts of Surigao del Sur and Davao Oriental provinces.

This prompted evacuation directives for certain regions in the Philippines. At least one person was killed, with disaster officials reporting minor damage to infrastructure.
