Mark Carney has been appointed Canada’s new prime minister after a decisive victory in the Liberal Party leadership race.
Mr Carney, who previously led Canada’s central bank, was seen as the frontrunner amid growing tensions with the US and tariffs imposed by President Trump.
He secured an overwhelming 85.9% of the vote in the leadership contest.
