The former head of the FBI, James Comey, is facing two indictment charges, accused of lying to congress and obstructing congressional proceeding.
It relates to his testimony before a congressional committee in 2020, which sought to establish if Comey had authorised leaks to the media.
The US President had previously labelled Mr Comey “sick” and “one of the worst human beings this country has ever been exposed to”. He fired James Comey as head of the FBI in 2017, just months into his first term, after he investigated alleged collusion between Donald Trump and Russia.
